Senagala Masala

Ingredients:

Black chick peas/ Kala chana/ desavali senagalu 1 cup
Whole red chillies 3-5
Corriander seeds 1tsp
Cinnamon 1/2 inch piece
Cloves 2-3
Salt to taste

Talimpu:

Mustard seeds 1tsp
Urad dal 1tsp
Oil 1tbsp

Finely chopped onions 2-4tbsps
lemon juice 1tsp

Method of preparation:

Boil kala chana in 2-3cups of water in pressure cooker for 3 whistles.
Grind red chillies, corriander seeds, cinnamon, cloves and salt into somewhat coarse paste adding little water.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal(black gram split), boiled kala chana, ground masala paste and 5-8tbsps of water. Toss until all the water evaporates.
Garnish with finely chopped onions. Squeeze little lime juice if you prefer.

Notes: This is basically eaten as evening snack but then you can mix with boiled white rice.
