Ingredients:

Chana dal 1 cup
Salt to taste

Talimpu:

Garlic 1 pod
Urad dal 1 tsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Broken red chillies 3
Oil 1 tsp

Method of preparation:

Pressure cook chana dal in 3-4 cups of water for 3 whistles.
When done, strain the liquid left into deep bowl.

Heat oil, add crushed garlic and all other talimpu ingredients in order.
When dal turns light brown, add this tampering/ talimpu to above chana dal rasam bowl.
Add salt and serve with rice.

Notes: To get best use of this recipe, make this rasam when you need some cooked chana dal.
