Bottle Gourd with Besan

Anapakaya / Sorakaya Senagapindi Koora

Ingredients:

Bottle Gourd 1 small sized
Besan / Gram Flour 3 tbsps
Salt to taste

Talimpu:

Urad Dal 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
Broken Red Chiles 8
Curry Leaves 8
Oil 1 tbsp

Method of preparation:

Remove ends, peel and chop bottle gourd into small pieces (abt. 4 cups).

Heat oil in a pan, add all talimpu ingredients in order.
When mustard seeds start spluttering, add bottle gourd pieces and sufficient salt.
Cook covered on low flame until bottle gourd turns soft from inside.
Stir in besan and fry for a minute.
Serve hot with steamed rice or chapati.

Notes: Make sure bottle gourd pieces are thoroughly cooked before adding besan.
